My credit is pretty solid but recently I got denied for a new CC. Was confused, checked all my histories and saw I was good. Just got the letter in the mail explaining why I was denied…here it is verbatim: “Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, applicant is reported as deceased.” Excuse me while I make a few phone calls…..

16 小時內	steph3965445	Possible explanation is that someone at SSA accidentally used your SSN while entering information of another.. Take documentation to SSA. Take to IRS as well because they may have received this incorrect information too.

一天內	Shelly Axe axeshelly	Found out i was dead when my credit card company sent a letter asking who was paying the deceased's balance. A few hours at the social security office and it was fixed. Someone typed the wrong # and boom i was gone. Gave me a bunch of letters confirning I was alive. Told me to immediately take one to my bank. Was also warned to keep an eye out because it could effect my health insurance, retirement accounts, etc. This was about 10 years ago and so far nothing has seemed to be effected by it.
