I never know what to say when asked, “where are you from?” I am obviously American & I lived in Boston. But I’ve lived in France for almost 3 years now, so I am not really from the US as I don’t consider that home anymore. But I’m not really from France either. Saying “I’m American but live in France” is too long for the one-word answers most people want & I’m afraid can sound pretentious. So I don’t know how to succinctly answer where I am from. And am maybe not really sure where I am from.

Even when you obtain your French citizenship you'll still be from the USA. It's not a bad thing. Speaking as and American born dual Irish citizen who lived in France for 4 years and now Spain for 4.

When asked I say I’m from France, since it’s been my home for a while now, but I still have a small accent when I speak so I do get the “oh but originally where are you from?” 😂 c’est fatiguant!
