Not a cycling lane but usable road, so use it

I just cannot understand cyclists. They purposely ride on the road, and willingly put their lives at risk, but complain that vehicles pass them with small gaps because the cyclist leaves them little choice.

Sorry mate, as a lifelong cyclist (never driven) I think he gave enough space. I get that the size and speed would add to how it felt. Personally having ridden A roads myself (wouldn't do again) I don't think they're suitable for cyclists.

Tbf he wasn't any closer than the car that passed after. It's because it's big bikers want extra room.

I understand that's not a cycle lane next to you, but it certainly looks wide enough to use as one. Any reason why you wouldn't? I would. I'd maybe even consider using the pavement for a stretch on a road with traffic that heavy. It's not like it's full of pedestrians or you couldn't see them in time enough to bump onto the road. Not being snarky, genuinely wondering.

England is the only crazy place where there is bicycles on fast roads. The fastest road in my country with bicycles is like a 50km/h road. And they get there own marked bit on the road. This here is crazy and probably the reason people don't use bicycles much

And this is why I stopped cycling on the road. I stick to the mtb now

Sorry but what was your expectation from them? If he gave you your 1.5m he’d have ploughed into the oncoming vehicle passing on the other side. You were given enough space there. If you feel unsafe on a national speed limit road then I suggest you find an alternative route with less traffic and heavy goods vehicles.
