My boyfriend is an alcoholic. He knows he is, but also throws in my face(when drinking) that I'm also an addict because I READ BOOKS almost every day. So, next time we go out of town, I'm going to insist that, right after he finds a liquor store, we NEED to find a bookstore before we go to the hotel.

Keep in mind that staying together for the kids can actually send a message that abuse is normal and acceptable relationship behavior. Hopefully you can have a conversation with kiddo about that since you’re sticking around. Be safe 💜
一天內	squeegee_bobbin	Let him know that addiction becomes a problem when it makes life unmanageable. Have you ever crashed a car while reading a book? Have you said stuff you didn’t mean because you were reading books all night? Have you ever blown a paycheck on books instead of paying your mortgage? Do you ever get the shakes because you haven’t read a book since last night? If not then I wouldn’t say reading has made your life unmanageable. Replace books with alcohol and see how many he crosses off the checklist.
