Cocktail party, I’m telling a story in which Latin American Collection at the Benson Center UT Austin is incidental to the tale. A professor of Chicana Studies corrects me to inform that “Latin American” is no longer acceptable and I should use a different term. But that’s the actual name of the department and school, I explain. Now she gets angry with me and demands an apology because I refuse to use the right words she has supplied.
