Reading is not dangerous, and I'm tired of people acting like it is. The worst thing that happens with a child reading a book that they are not emotionally ready for is they learn a valuable lesson. They can put down a book that bothers them, they can skip chapters that bothers them, and/or they can talk it through with an adult. The harm to benefit ratio is ridiculously in favor of books here. There is basically no harm for an insane amount of benefit.
