There’s also a weird cohort of drivers who seem to use others as a pace car; I can’t tell you number of times on a long motorway drive I’ve been “followed” by someone, I now usually end the cycle by gently brakechecking them or blasting them with some secondhand windscreen washer.

If doing a long drive, crusing at the same speed and keeping the distance between you and other cars can be bad for your concentration, you are more likely to zone out. By varying your speed and distances between the vehicles ahead you keep yourself engaged and are more likely to stay awake. Obviously erratic and extreme changes should be avoided. CC (in my opinion) should mainly be used for Average speed cameras and/or road works and for short periods on longer journeys, not for long times.
