I have never seen anyone offended by someone saying Merry Christmas, however I did recently wish my Indian coworker a happy Diwali and he was so delighted that he told his wife who packaged a little box of assorted Diwali cookies for me, moral of the story is appreciate diversity, there's cookies.

I wish one of my closest friends happy Diwali every year and that girl has never given me Diwali cookies. I should go on strike! (She has made me soup when I'm sick though so I guess she gets a pass)

Totally agree! There’s all sorts of various snacks when we wish people a happy whatever they celebrate and if not being a prick isn’t a good enough reason to wish it the snacks should be!

Same thing happened to me with my neighbor! Acknowledging diversity is a good thing - and I got cookies!

My Honda service man said Merry Christmas in Italian… I got my car and he got a box of italian home made cookies just out of the oven. I naked while waiting for my car to be serviced. Just be happy.

I have learned so much working with my colleagues who are from India. That India has “states” like the US does and each one is a little different. That one of the southern “states” has a tendency to serve spicy food over other states.

I've never seen anyone offended either. I've worked with diverse religions/ nationalities over the years and they always participated in the festivities. No one, Christian or not, ever tried to turn it into a religious debate. All just enjoyed the season and the fun.

I used to be very offended because I’m an atheist Jew. One day a woman wished me a merry Christmas and I said, “Thank you! And a happy Hanukkah to you!” She looked at me weirdly so I said,”I’m sorry, I thought we were exchanging holiday greetings that we don’t celebrate but people assume we do” I’m over it and now I just smile and say it back - it’s really not a big deal to me anymore

And fireworks!! We took our family to see a band play outdoors on my daughters 18th birthday and a Diwali celebration was happening not far from the venue. Just as her favourite song started so did fireworks and they were one of the best displays I’ve ever seen. They just kept going. Absolute magic.
