One of the weirdest lightbulb moments I've ever experienced is when I realized that all the "life hacks" I'd come up with to function as an adult are actually ADHD hacks.

Direct debits / Auto pay is the reason I have a decent credit rating. Phone alarms for time blindness. Reaction lenses in my glasses as LED lights are a nightmare and are overstimulating. CALM app for background sounds to help me focus.

Constantly setting timers to see how many chores I can get done before times runs out. I thought I invented that hack. Then I learned I have ADHD - and then I learned about gamifying. So helpful - just a little urgency to make things interesting.

100% this! Not being diagnosed until 50 means that I have a whole library of hacks which could be categorised solely under "neurodivergent trying to function under neurotypicals structures". 😵💫 Now, trying to unpick decades of masking is a whole other challenge! 🫣
