My favorite overhead stow point is across the aisle and one row ahead. So when I go to exit I stand up as the row ahead and across is clearing out, then as I walk by, in one swift motion I retrieve my carry on by its handle as i continue to walk forward to deplane. It’s a thing of beauty, I only wish I could see it from the perspective of whoever is behind me.
