I would prefer being married and travel with my partner or having like minded friends. However, currently I have neither and I would not let life pass my by. I travel 4 times a year for museums, art and culture and everyone likes it or can afford it. I prefer traveling alone when waiting for something to happen. Solo traveling (in combination with books and therapy) helped my stopped receiving crumbs, pursuing unavailable people and made more confident and mature.
