How old is too old for you to stay with your kid when they’re meeting at a friend’s house when you don’t know the parents? Am I odd for being annoyed that parents of 7th graders want to stay for the Christmas get together my daughter is hosting with 6 friends? One of these parents also stayed when my house was the meeting place for their group project. I did not then and do not now intend to sit and watch them. I’ll be home, but not with them. What say you?

27 分鐘內	Sabrina Ransom simply_sabrinar	I think you know you’re safe but the parents don’t know that… yet. Give them access to their child but don’t feel the need to entertain them. That parent is welcome to supervise. You can honestly never be too careful with your kids. If it continues to bother then I wouldn’t host. If you’re comfortable dropping off then that may be the solution.

5 小時內	Lisa Bowgren lisabowgren	Unless it’s my friend, I wouldn’t like this. Now you have to host the adult too? Most of this stay while they play ended for me in 2nd grade (thankfully).
6 小時內	Rose Nagle-Yndigoyen theladyistnyc	I think 7th grade is way too old for that. A parent-to-parent text to confirm details? Yes. Drop off and wave at the door? Yes. That’s it. Connect and Verify. But at a certain point you have start trusting your child and the community they are building.

Which you wouldn’t really know about unless the parent volunteered the info. I would give them the benefit of the doubt; I imagine the parent would rather be doing something else and would leave their preteen if they could, you know?

We were friendly but not exactly friends and frankly, I thought it was rude and obnoxious but I couldn’t think of a way to get her to leave. So I decided to have a project or some housework going on when the kids got together. She still stayed but at least I would get something accomplished.
