People (my mom is people) tell me that someday I’m going to be embarrassed about my kpop phase. That I’ll regret the time and money I put into collecting merch and seeing concerts. And to that I say: I hope not. I hope I never reach such a low point in my life that I’m embarrassed about something that gave me joy. Whether or not kpop will always be something that offers me joy doesn’t even matter. Because for right now, it does. And I could never regret that or be embarrassed about it

I’m not embarrassed about collecting horse calendars as a kid, or wearing my signed High Valley t-shirt until it practically fell off of me because it was so threadbare. I don’t regret buying fancy tags for my dogs, even though I don’t have those dogs anymore. In fact, I will continue to buy fancy tags. Do things that bring you joy. Who cares if you know it’s just a phase? It’s a phase you can enjoy to the fullest while it’s here

Music is music it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Who did your mum listen to in her early years! She needs to calm down and be more positive. I’m Older and myself and my daughter love k-pop and have been to a few concerts and I do not care about anyone’s opinion!

My daughter is a k pop fan and got me into it about 5 years ago. I love it and I listen to it every day. I'm 55!

For me, BTS brought me so much joy during the pandemic when there were no diversions at home other then working on my laptop. It all started with a random view of their hit “Butter” on YouTube and I was fascinated! K-pop like BTS work like mad, often for years with little or no recognition or money to perfect their craft. Tell your naysayers that people around the world and of all ages (ahem I’m no spring chicken!) rally around KPop - no one should scoff at a unifying force!

Sweetie, even if one day you do get embarrassed about being a K-pop stan, so what. That's life. Enjoy your life, every minute of it, make mistakes (hopefully not big ones). It's all part of the whole shebang.
