CEOs direct the entire company and are responsible for the job of every other employee below them. If the company tanks, they are personally impacted because who would want an executive that tanked a company? They are also often more credentialed, having experience and connections in business to help theirs succeed where others didn’t. They are ultimately in charge of making sure the entire company is profitable and, by extension, the employee that are necessary for the company to function.
