The people of Israel were captured and a good proportion of them were enslaved by the Babylonians in 586BC and were held for 50-60 years during which time they would have become quite familiar with the Epic of Gilgamesh. There's two parts of the epic that would later become part of the old testament. Being the garden of Eden and the Noah flood story. 1/
