You people do not get that it isnt about the whole female lead thing alone. Most gamers do not care. For example, my favorite videogame character is probably Jill Valentine hands down. But what we do not like is how most of the big budget games over the past few years have had female protagonists, and on top of that they aren't really designed well either. Most of the iconic female characters from the 90s and 2000s had memorable or at least good designs. Besides, where are the male protagonists?

Most of the time people who complain about female leads are just asshats. If it's actually a problem you can complain about the game with our ever referring to the characters gender or wokeness

Just curious, has this argument been over hyped? I haven't seen anyone actually saying they won't play Witcher 4 because it's a female but honestly I don't follow a ton of twitch streamers or anything so I might have missed it. I mean obviously if they do believe this they are in the douche canoe has a love triangle with a twaffle camp, but I just haven't seen the actual comments anywhere, just the rest of saying "wtf".

I have no idea what these lunatics are on about sometimes. I tend to create female characters in big RPG’s anyway so I’m all in on Witcher 4. Abby and Ellie are two of the best characters ever created yet they came for TLOU2 and now they are coming for Intergalactic too. Crazy.

It’s expectations maybe. Is tomb raider any better or worse if we change the protagonist to be male? No, but I’m expecting that I’ll be playing Laura Croft. I’m thinking about Dying Light II and how we all wanted to be Kyle Crane but instead we got Aiden. Now, dying light the Beast is coming out, and we play as Kyle again. I’m sure the developers picked up that players had expectations that weren’t met.
