¡Fenomenal! Me imagino q sabes q la mayoría de la población de PR está en la diáspora (casi 6 millones vs 3.2 millones en la isla). Muchos de nuestr@s atletas olímpicos, Miss Universo, artistas, ingenieros, etc. nacieron y se criaron fuera de PR…¡Tu eres boricua, pa’ q tu lo sepas!

My parents left in the 80s when they were teens, & my dad actually grew up between NJ & Vieques his whole life. We were born and raised in Newark, but traveled to PR regularly. My parents never used the term Puerto Rican-American, we were simply Puerto Rican. Raised in a predominantly Puerto Rican area in Newark, I never felt the disconnect many others may have felt in other states. Now living in PR for almost 8 years full time, some people don’t get it. I’m still considered “Nuyo Rican”

Your parents are US Citizens they’re not immigrants. Regardless of what your experience is or what you’ve been told growing up, you are all citizens. Facts are facts

No controversy. You're still a US citizen of Puerto Rican cultural background. Puerto Ricans do have a peculiar cultural personality difference when raised in PR. It's about where you were raised I think, not where you were born.
