Google tells us that the first mass-produced toothbrush was invented in 1780 by William Addis, an English prisoner who put it together from cattle bone and pig bristles. First of all, props to William for displaying a decent level of ingenuity while behind bars, but lets not miss the big picture here - the manual toobrush hasn't evolved much in close to 250 years.
