Wow... bombshell. Freeland was exceedingly competent as Finance Minister and Deputy PM but she did not have the political acumen to succeed Trudeau. In the initial chaos, this may appear as if the Prime Minister's circle is falling apart but I believe he's engineering a successor: Mark Carney. Carney would make an excellent finance minister as well as be able to take the reins as he's had buy-in from across the political spectrum.
