Blocking intersections : YES! Speed cameras are horrible. Driving in France is like being in elementary school. 1 km over and boom €65 euros. No, teach driving. Make people actually pass a rigorous test. Boston gives out licenses like candy on Halloween. Empower and educate. I despise collective punishment.

red light cameras, sure. speed cameras, not so much. speed limits in the US are archaic.

I mean, hot take but enforcement rarely leads to reduced repeat offenses. Effective driving lessons, focused on safety, respect, and decision making lead to less traffic infractions, and less road deaths. Especially if the training is done when the driver is first learning to drive.

That camera and telematic device should be fitted in your car. So from the second your started your engine to stop, you will get plenty of monitoring.

I’ve always felt that cities could make most their revenue and reduce dangerous situations for officers and the public by instituting frequent speed cameras placed according to high risk and known speeding areas. Tickets could be mailed (and double for people trying to hide their license plate). The fine could also be proportional to income to make equally painful, but also not unfairly hurtful financially.
