I don’t think people under what 20? 30? Realize exactly how ubiquitous smoking was. Restaurants had smoking sections where the smoke never stayed. You could smoke on planes. The armrests had little ashtrays. The library, the grocery store, in the office. The waiting room in hospitals. You could smoke pretty much everywhere unless it was actively dangerous. Until the early 2000s bars were still filled with smoke until they finally banned it
