Sometimes they do mistreat you so there is the reverse discard. So you end up leaving, and then they can play the victim that they got abandoned and then use that with their new supply or to bring in the new supply into their lives. Happened to me.

I discovered heinous truths about my abuser, her affair, her secret drug addiction and that she apparently didn’t truly love me and only considered me a friend, but she cried, screamed at me, gaslit me and used every abuse and manipulation strategy in the book to try to prevent me from leaving her. Whilst her mistreatment was increasing and becomming more apparent towards the end, she very much had no intention of allowing me to leave her.
