Recap: The motor in my 2019 Kia Soul blew up at 102k. Kia is replacing it with a new motor (no new warranty) at no cost. I'm not sure if I'll get repaid for the tow. The 2.0L motor has no specific flaws but has had quality issues in manufacturing. It might last a long time or blow up at 40k. The 1.6L motor is more reliable but still has less frequent quality issues. For all models, to protect yourself, stay on top of the maintenance at Kia dealers and keep all the records. As the motors (especially the 2.4L) age, monitor the oil. (cont)
