Turns out, that signature “new car smell” Americans love so much is actually toxic VOCs (volatile organic compouds) regulated and minimised in the EU 🥴😷 🤷🏼♀️ The more you know! (2/2)

Want a smell like in the US? You can spray it like you do there, plus some other gimmicks from the dealer‘s toolbox. The biggest difference? US customers buy vehicles from stock. They go to the dealer and drive the new car out of the lot.

Makes you wonder if the reason America has gone mad is because of their exposure to all these toxic chemicals in their everyday lives, including food. They reckon the fall of the Roman Empire was down to lead poisoning .

it's also the smell of new leather seats 😍 (in Europe, in a European made car)

I don’t think this is accurate. It’s basically the same smell as new carpet, or a lot of other things made from normal materials.

There used to be a spray you could get to give a car that smell.

Sounds like a good idea to air out that new car in the US. Also avoid oranges and citrus fruits, hairsprays, spray cleaners, and maybe hamsters but only because they bite.
