Let me preface by saying I am Gen X. We had a field trip, scholastic, in district, at the district office complex. Five students in one class said they had to take their phones because their mom's track them all day long. They were shocked when I said I'd hold them after they text their mom's and expect pain, once again, the school policy. I expect calls. 1/?

4 小時內	Chelly T 702chelsea	It’s a ridiculous policy that says students can’t have their phones, especially on an off campus trip. We don’t take adults phones away.

That active shooter training is a thing at your schools. My kids it their phones away at the beginning of class (the middle/high scholers) in a holder at the door. They retrieve it after class. The youngest, in elementary school, do not have a phone.
8 小時內	Robin rweilzfullyimmersed	Many secondary schools in the UK lock phones away at the start of the day. Works really well. Kids are fine with it. We have a few medical exemptions. If they need to call home they go to the school office. Kids are less distracted, not taking inappropriate pics/vids, they talk to each other at break, everyone feels safer. And fortunately we don't worry at all about guns because they've been banned. No one has one, no one gets shot.
