For those of you nearing retirement… Assuming Social Security remains stable for awhile, what’s your opinion on taking the lower amount at 62 vs waiting and drawing a higher amount later? My full retirement age is 67. I’m thinking sooner will be better - at least I will potentially draw it for a longer period of time.

22 分鐘內	Dan Payton dpgadawg	Unless you need it, it absolutely pays off to wait until your full retirement age of 67. If you take it at 62, you will receive 30% LESS annually than you would if you started at 67. That is a permanent reduction for the rest of your life.
2 小時內	Rhonda Renee rhondab3232	If you can afford to stay home on your Social Security then do it, but please remember you still gotta pay for medical on your own . You only get hospitalization through Social Security. You still need a supplement which can cost you right now over $300 a month

At 67 it would cost us $10,000 a year because we would need that amount from our financial investment account and at 65 that is the best age to take it we would gain $8,000 to $10,000 a year
