I'm disappointed that I still having to deal with a situation where musicians that I've hired have deliberately double booked themselves for another gig even after they've been booked prior for a gig/rehearsal. I understand the hustle. I need gigs too. And I've had to sacrifice some because I've commited to something else that may be of lower pay (or musical/artistic quality). But I'd still be someone who honours the promise.

20 小時內	Brian Andres brianandresmusic	As a bandleader, I have no problem with people subbing out gigs of mine if 1) their other gig pays much better. 2) they can get me a sub of equal or better ability. 3) it’s done in a timely manner which causes me no stress. When they meet that criteria, it’s all good.

Sometimes for some premium dates such as Xmas Eve/ New year's eve musicians can get double/triple or sometimes even more than what they usually get. A deposit might be a solution. In case of the musicians cancel after recieved the deposit, they have to pay the penalty which is a full amount (not only returning the deposit). And by the way, most of, not all, good and reliable musicians have a booking agent, so that client will not have to experince hassles of communication

I would think that is totally understandable in a business where you have to make the money when the opportunity arises. As long as they know their parts. Obviously rehearsal is important but unless it’s for a group that pays so well you don’t need to do anything else, taking the paying gig instead of rehearsal is just what any hard working musician has to do to make ends meet.
