I somewhat regularly get the question "why did you pick the dystopian genre for Divergent" (or some variation) and I have no idea how to answer that. The genre is sorta baked into the story idea. It's not something I typically decide on later. BUT it does make me want to write a scene from like a barista AU version of Divergent. FIVE COFFEE SHOPS COMPETING FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS' $. YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE. "DAUNTLESS" MAKES THE BEST ESPRESSO. "ERUDITE" ONLY DOES SIPHON BREWING. etc.
