Imagine being an autistic child with no way to vocally communicate that you need space or are upset or uncomfortable. For some autistics, these emotions manifest as aggression and/or SIB.
All behavior is a form of communication, including aggression.
If an autistic child is aggressing they're often conveying an emotion. Sadness. Anxiety. Fear. Frustration. Anger.
"Decking" an autistic child—or any child for that matter—does not teach them an appropriate replacement for aggression. (2/3)
