“You can’t be autistic. You make eye contact.” Yeah, 20 yrs of “look me in the eyes when I’m fuckin talking to you” accompanied by threats of violence can train a person to overcome discomfort.

Or you can just look at their mouths instead of eyes. They can't really tell.

People have the nerve to compare you to kids who are autistic with support needs. We only know they’re autistic because their parents gave a f**, didn’t make them change, and or they have high support needs. And it’s not hard math, allistic people like to be dumb because it makes them feel good to say “you’re not ugly and THAT weird so how are you autistic”

I fought my diagnosis for a long time because I "didn't exhibit common traits of autism". Then I remembered those traits were "disciplined" out of me as a kid.

Then, you’re focusing so hard on maintaining a “normal” amount of eye contact that you never hear a word the person said.
