I think that's because they wanted to present her as a more "masculine" character. She's not "girly", she's a workaholic who doesn't cry and doesn't have time for nonsense such as foreplay. That's why her perfect pairing is a very "feminine" man whose entire life is his family and always cries. It's a traditional romcom couple with the genders reversed
