This is not correct at all. All artwork has copyright the moment it's created. You can get further protection by registering your art within the system. Every piece of art created by a person and posted is posted with copyright. You can deter art theft by having a watermark on your art and a signature within the physical design. Tho it's not guaranteed to do much.
