Happened to me. I would do my business taxes along with my personal taxes HOWEVER, I didn't know sales taxes was something completely separate. I had 3 years of sales taxes I needed to pay. Not only that, but I filed it wrong, so then I had to hire someone to fix my booboo. Lol 😅 I'm a dumb dumb too. But like most have said, you can do monthly installments.

I end up owing every year and the CRA works with you to make monthly payments in your budget if you are in Canada 🙏🏽 don’t worry it seems scary but I always end up paying mine off this way. While you make those monthly payments if you are able to save a little off to the side for next years taxes it’ll really help. Which is easier said than done in this economy. Is this for quarterly? If you use Shopify you can have it automatically pull your taxes into a seperate account that way when it’s time to pay taxes you always have what you owe available . You could also see if you can just file and pay later . Hope that helps 🩷 Don’t feel bad

Here is a tip for you from someone who did exact same rocky mistake: open a checking account for the business only. I use Square. Create folders in it and make sure to automatically send a percentage of each sale to “taxes” account. This way your personal and business finances won’t be mixed and you have money to pay off your taxes/bills
