There wasn’t a single goth in the early 90’s gatekeeping music genres..because it all worked, early EBM + Industrial + Gothic Metal were all considered the new era of goth music, no one gave a fuck about gatekeeping until late 90’s -early 00’s EMO + NU METAL + Mall Goth Era. So yes initially it was needed but it’s gone way too far and has for a while. It’s become very Anti-Art.

2 小時內	David Hurd olgumborivers	The literal moment we as a society stopped composing "pieces" with "sections" and "skors" and "acts" (much like a live play) we essentially turned all music into one genre, it's pop music. Does the song circle 4 chords? It's pop. The different "genres" we apply are like instagram filters. But it's all pop. Your most brutal death metal prog band, IS a pop band. By definition pop. The rest is all gatekeeping, egos, and people pretending to be something they usually don't understand all that well
