Living our lives outside of the classroom. Grading takes hours and we are tired of grading during unpaid hours. Therefore, it’ll get done when it gets done, during contracted hours. If a student turns in something late, that gets put to the bottom of the pile.

I feel like this is every school, I remember 10 years ago having to legit explain to to my mom my grade wasn’t a 0 when it’s almost the end of the marking period… because the TEACHER has neglected to put stuff in

What’s considered “on time”? I have over a hundred students. That’s like 8 hrs of grading.

Remember when teachers could teach the lesson and grade papers with provided feedback and not have to spend hours in panic “putting in the grades on time”?! We are not superhuman, there are only so many hours in the day. Have some grace, ma’am.

You do know that most high school teachers, depending on the size of the school, have at least 6 periods a day and each period is roughly 25-30 kids? That’s roughly 150-180 kids ONE teacher is responsible for educating, building relationships, social emotional support, not to mention grading! Do you honestly believe that your child’s teacher should grade papers outside contract time? Do you expect to get paid for overtime or do you sit on your ass and be a keyboard warrior? GTFOOH!

Grading work, especially in high school, is hard to keep up with this time of year. Especially when every student is suddenly turning in piles of late work.

You are exactly the reason teachers are in mass exodus. Keep it up- and you’ll never see grades because it’s gonna be subs for all.

Maybe you should call the teacher

I get sooooo tired of people talking about teaching is a passion. “We don’t do it just for the money.” BS. I teach so that I can fund my passion. If yall can’t get past that, that’s on you.
