My British ex (from London specifically) would always say he “didn’t know what that meant” when I used miles, inches, etc. I think once he even said he used the 24 hour clock, not the 12 hour one, so it was confusing to him. I never wanted to confront him but I feel I’ve been to britain enough times and know enough Brits to know they do indeed understand imperial? And I felt like he was just gaslighting me 🙄
