This is the last picture I ever took of my mom. She died about three weeks later, three years ago today. I had to fight to keep the hospital from dumping her to a nursing home when she was in DIC and too weak to press a call button or speak, because even Medicare didn’t want to pay for inpatient hospice. I am grateful to the hospice worker who made sure I knew exactly what circumstances would make her eligible.
