Everyone accepted the new name except Americans. As with slavery, gun control and medicine, you just never move with the times, do you? That's why you're 300 years behind everyone else. By the way, soccer was never the official name and the fans had been football since the 12th century. You lot latched onto ephemeral slang and made it your whole identity.
