Someone is asking $3k a month for a two-bedroom BASEMENT unit in Suburban Ontario. Where do people locate the nerve?

I recently saw a gross place listed for 1600.00 in Niagara Region. I wanted to leave message to try to shame them. I didn't.

Markets dictate the rent. If the house in the neighborhood as mine is listed for 3000, do you expect me to list mine for less? Where did you get the nerve to tell other people what they should and shouldn't do?

In Burlington is a *very* iin-demand city right now because of its proximity to Milton, which is very much an industrial centre. That's a pretty standard rate for a non-apartment rental

Most likely someone who can't afford the house the bought so to pay mortgage they do this and get people to pay whole mortgage instead of getting a portion of the mortgage hence why you still live in the house or rent another part of it out. Scumlords need to go

I have a new gorgeous 1500 sq ft walkout basement apartment with large above grade picture windows and sliding doors. Large kitchen, large livingroom, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, 3 parking spots and use of an acre! I know I can get $3000+/mo (GTA) but I rent it to a young family trying to save for just $800/mo. I don’t know how anyone affords the crazy rent these days.

There are 2 bedroom condos in Toronto available for that price. Nobody should be paying that.

You are out of touch. Burlington is a sought after neighborhood. Amazing infra, low crime, less homeless, less drug addicts, more of immigrants who have assimilated. These come with a price.
