Kids are so empathetic, my 8 year old also wants to see but I don’t show him the gruesome stuff and then he reminds me children his age and younger are going through this. The kids’ understanding is so clear, what’s complicated about holding a murderer accountable.

Reminds me of conversations I've had with more than one white friend when talking about racism and supremacy... they said "how can I teach my children the world is so messed up, it will take away their innocence?" And I thought of the small brown bodied children in my family, and how we've had to teach them about racism and supremacy to keep them safe and because it comes flying at them from kindergarten onwards. I think about this and ask, who's innocence are we concerned about and protecting?

My young children have been exposed to the horrors in Gaza since the beginning. They’ve seen videos. Photos. Watched me scream and cry until I couldn’t any more. Been to rallies with me. Honestly I’d rather teach them and show them the world isn’t rainbows and sunshine and educate them so they don’t grow up blind and ignorant like most of the population.
