Our adopted son is a covert narcissist. I walked on egg shells for almost eight years. I made excuses for him and routinely got him out of trouble. I gave him money when he refused to work (after being fired, again!) I cleared up mess after mess. Of course this was the wrong approach. I was wrong for not holding him accountable. When we finally did hold him accountable and kicked him out, after months of lies/stealing, he played the victim. But the only thing he is a victim of are his choices.
