On the very contrary, we can be almost certain we cannot change gender but only sex (to a certain extent) If we can change gender by choice or by therapy there would be no transgender people. It's exactly because we CAN'T change that, some people find that their gender is different from their assigned sex. So they try to medically change their sex to align with their gender.
