The official name of 'Taiwan'is 'Republic of China' which was established in 1912. 'China' was the common name of Republic of China(ROC) .The Chinese became independent and established the People's Republic of China(PRC) in 1949 but they never declared independence. PRC grabbed the common name 'China' from ROC because of the resolution 2758 of UN in 1971 and ROC was forced to change it to 'Taiwan' since 2004.
