My cover art for my Miss Percy's Pocket Guide was $250. I saved up for that. Many authors will make covers on Canva (and make them look good!) Some will do bartering ("I'll proofread for you if you art for me" or something similar.) And not all artists cost thousands of dollars. Do not make excuses for AI and your lack of creativity and ingenuity.
