My Christmas wish is that people in the US understand how expensive it is to maintain roads and car-dependent infrastructure, and how much cheaper it would likely be to have a high-speed rail system 🫠

Oh I *fully* understand. As a Hoosier who lives in a city that was built for cars... I'm still annoyed that so many refuse to embrace what better public transit would mean! We're getting better but progress is SO SLOW 🥲

You can’t really believe that. A high speed rail in the United States is unrealistic unless we build it underground. Even then the vastness of the country also makes it a problem.

No, put the traffic in the air with regional, short-haul flights and upgrade and expand the airports of mid and smaller metro areas as well as the secondary airports in larger ones. Allow new players into the market where they can offer low fare one way and roundrtip flights. ✈️

There’s almost a 0% chance that someone will pour gasoline on me and burn me to death if I’m in my car.

Perhaps you should study the high speed rail service in California.
