Kids absolutely remember who their people are! I got to reconnect with one of my (now estranged) bio Dad’s gf, and got to tell her we named my little brother after her deceased son. Love this for you ❤️

I've been divorced from my ex about 11 years now. I still do holidays with a few of his aunts and several of his cousins. He's remarried but doesn't live locally. These are the family members who never treated me or our kids any differently after our divorce. I truly appreciate them on so many levels. I hope that you both never lose touch again.

I found out just how abusive my x’s mum was to her grand daughter a lot of years after we divorced! My 2nd husbands family cut contact with me after their son assaulted me. My then 12 year old took her father’s side years after the assault/divorce…she also cut contact. Better of without people who detest you and mean you harm!

When my bio uncle and aunt got divorced later in life, nothing at all changed regarding my aunt. She'd been our Aunt Jane for our entire lives, right up to her passing last January. Truth be told, if we had to pick, we'd have ALL picked her. My uncle was a lifelong enormous ass. How he ever landed the sweetest woman on earth will long be a mystery.
