This is rough on you physically and mentally. Hard to do self care when you don’t have help. It’s not a help, but sending good thoughts your way.

It is a dark and dreary road. I know this. The sadness and exhaustion is deep. It isn’t going to get better. I write this because after 14 years my demented, 75 pounds of a 94 year old, profoundly deaf mother died a few weeks ago. In speaking with someone this past week, I said I am just so grateful that I outlived her. There is no other family, there was no other choice. 1/2

It’s very hard. Please, take care of yourself. Is there an agency in your area that might provide care so you could get a break?

I can relate. It’s been years since my Mom passed after a long course of Alzheimer’s. Moving her into a place for those heading to Alzheimer’s was the best thing we did. We as a family explained to her why we needed to know she was safe at all times. It was my pleasure to help Mom transition thru this time with the help of my siblings. Yet there were times I was exhausted and cried. Know you can do this. Seek a way to not be carrying the load on your own. You got this.

I understand. I’m taking care of my mom. She’s fading also.

My mom is 87 and has vascular dementia. I am her sole caregiver. I relocated from my home because my cousin said that she would help take care of my mother and I know my mother craved to be near family. However, my cousin backed out and I’ve had to cut all ties with her. The only advice I can give you is to know that you’re not alone And that others are in your same predicament. Yes, it is very hard and exhausting however, we share a gift that so many people cannot do. This is our season.

Hope you survive, I did the same thing and nearly lost my mind. I don’t know your financial circumstances but if you can pay for someone for just a few hours it might help. I was able to have 4 hrs two day a week. I will pray that you find some peace.
