In 2008 the White House held a poetry jam for up and coming artists. At this time a young, fellow Puerto Rican named Lin-Manuel Miranda sings an excerpt from something he was working on called “Hamilton.” Watch the people’s faces in the crowd. At first they’re like wtf is this, and by the end they’re jamming along to it. Hamilton won 4 Tony’s, a Grammy and was a finalist for the Pulitzer the next year.
