For his 30th birthday, I bought my ex husband a $1k gadget he’d been wanting. For my 30th birthday, he bought me 3 jars of sauce. The excuse he & everyone around me gave was that he was “bad at gifts.” the truth was that he had contempt for me that became more evident w/ time. When I see these women talking about empty stockings or insulting gifts, I want to tell them: it’s not thoughtlessness. That man hates you & gets off on the knowledge that you won’t leave. Get out.
