I hate the question “ where are you from”, what are you referring to? Like where was I born, where was my childhood, where was my ancestors from, where do I live, where is my parents from? There’s so many options it could beeeeee!!!

一天內	peteconrad56 petemjc	When asked this awhile ago whilst visiting in Sydney, I paused to think about it and eventually replied- "Victoria, Melbourne, Lilydale, formerly from Zealand, North Island, Auckland, Western Springs but born in Taumarunui. I am Tainui. Take your pick." His response was "Well, I'm from New Plymouth'' thus the conversation continued.
